If you’re looking to satisfy your hunger, the diverse food options at the Town Center will do the trick. Make a caffeine run to Starbucks and enjoy the scenery: “The neighborhood ducks are a fun attraction when they visit,” says Bernice W. You can also stop by the Third Place Books food court and check out Claudette M’s recommended spot, the Honey Bear Bakery: “[I often] meet a friend or client for lunch at the Honey Bear Bakery, which serves up wholesome, delicious sandwiches (my favorite is the BLTA) and delectable large slices of cake,” she shares. “Honey Bear is one of three restaurants in the comfortable Third Place Commons located within the book store,” so no matter what you’re craving, you are guaranteed to find something you love. With the holidays around the corner, the Town Center is your go-to for finding that perfect gift. “Mud Bay in [the] Lake Forest [Park] Town Center has my attention these days,” Bernice shares. “It is a great place to bring your pet while shopping for that something special or that top of the line food product. The customer service is so helpful and friendly.” She adds that “[Town Center] Hardware is another really fun place. “They have pretty much everything.”

Claudette loves “stopping in at Third Place Books… where you can study, eat, read, play (there’s a small play area for toddlers), or just watch people come and go. A truly wonderful community gathering space!” A final shoutout goes to the Avid Angler, the premier shop for your fly fishing needs. Wherever your interests lie, you’re bound to find something that catches your attention!

The Town Center offers more than just food and shopping—there are also great services you can take advantage of. Third Place Commons

If you want to get involved but don’t know where to begin, check out the Third Place Commons. “Third Place Commons…[is] where you can study, eat, read, play (there’s a small play area for toddlers), or just watch people come and go,” shares Claudette M. “[It’s] a truly wonderful community gathering space!”

Every Sunday (Mother’s Day-mid-October) from 10:00am-3:00pm, they host their Farmers Market, with local vendors selling some of the best food, flowers, and plants around. It’s the perfect way to get acquainted with the talent that makes this city thrive.

If you’re looking for more involvement, the LFP Garden Club meets in the Commons on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from September-May. With knowledgeable speakers from all walks of gardening life, this club is a great way to snag some tips while meeting your friends and neighbors.

Recreation Partnership with the City of Shoreline

Offering extensive recreation options, the partnership between Lake Forest Park and the city of Shoreline gives Lake Forest Park residents discounted access to all-ages classes, workshops, camps, memberships, and enrichment programs. LFP residents receive an 8% discount on program fees and early registration before other non-Shoreline residents. You can get the whole family involved!

For those who love the great outdoors without being too far from premium city amenities, Lake Forest Park is a dream come true! Nestled along the shores of picturesque Lake Washington and north of Seattle and Bellevue, Lake Forest Park offers the opportunity to truly have it all. Whether you need to commute into the city for work or want to spend a day on the beach, it’s all wonderfully within reach.

As Jill L points out, living in Lake Forest Park is “like being in an enchanted forest.” She adds that large lots cater to gardeners, and there’s even an amazing Garden Club you can join. Claudette M shares that “Most homes are on large lots, many along streams or creeks. Getting Out & About

One of the coveted perks of owning in certain Lake Forest Park neighborhoods (there are quite a few that qualify) is eligibility for membership in the Lake Forest Park Civic Club. Members play on the shores of Lake Washington, enjoying access to the private beach/swim area and boat launch.

The Civic Club is well known with plenty of surrounding homes being deeded in, but lesser known is the adjacent Sheridan Beach Club which provides excellent amenities, shore access, a pool and most importantly, a heightened sense of community. If you’re looking for it all in LFP, the Beach Club is where you should start.

Go for a run, walk or bicycle ride on the Burke-Gilman Trail, along the shore of Lake Washington.

The Lake Forest Park Farmer’s market on Sundays is awesome.

Commuting From Lake Forest Park

Lake Forest Park residents predominantly rely on car & bus for their commutes to Seattle or the Eastside. However, with convenient access to a 2-mile stretch of the Burke-Gilman Trail that passes through the city, there is a robust population of residents that commute into Seattle by bicycle, and particularly work centers such as the University of Washington & Children’s Hospital.

Lake Forest Park was designed as a bedroom community for Seattle, so much of the housing consists of single family homes built between the 1950s and early 1980s. The city is very hilly, so multi-level, split-entry and one-story with basement homes that accommodate the topography are common. The hilly topography also translates into many homes enjoying Cascade Mountain or verdant territorial views, and some with Lake Washington views too.

The 5 Best Things About Living in South Everett

What’s so great about living in South Everett? There are several reasons why people choose to call South Everett “home,” and we asked locals what they love about the area so much. Here’s what they shared:

1. Quick access to Boeing and Paine Field.

As local Heather P points out, South Everett’s easy access to Boeing is definitely a perk of living in the area! This location will only become more desirable when Alaska Airlines starts running commercial flights from Paine Field in fall of 2018. For those in the area who have to head to SeaTac often, this will be a *huge* timesaver.

2. Several great transit options.

In addition to upcoming commercial flights, South Everett already has several excellent transportation options whether or not you have a car. With access to several freeways (including Interstate-5), local and regional bus routes, the Sounder Train (find stations in nearby Mukilteo and of course in Everett), and the light rail expansion, getting around the area just keeps getting easier. Having options like the train and light trail (in the future!) make it so you don’t even have to deal with car traffic, a definite bonus as our highways become more and more congested. 3. Nice neighborhoods with affordability.

According to local Brian H, South Everett is a top choice for many people due to its “nice neighborhoods and affordability.” As Zillow reports, the median home price in Everett is $337,700 (August 2017). With prices steadily increasing, it’s significantly more affordable than nearby cities like Seattle (with a median home price of $690,200 for August 2017).

4. Unique outdoor opportunities.

Many people don’t know all that South Everett has to offer, and this includes some unique outdoor activities! Local Jen B especially loves McCollum Pioneer Park: “McCollum Park is a fabulous Park and Ride but there are other unique amenities including an outdoor seasonal pool, BMX park, and walking trails linking to Mill Creek Town Center. 5. There’s tons of great shopping!

…And we really mean *tons*. Costco and T.J. Maxx are Heather P’s favorite places to stop by, but no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll probably be able to find it in South Everett. The Everett Mall is packed with shopping, dining, services, and entertaining, and here you’ll find Regal Cinemas, LA Fitness, Bed Bath & Beyond, PetSmart, Best Buy, Sears, and so much more. If you’re near Red Cup and want some pizza, stop by Sully’s Pizza & Calzones. “From the same courtyard [as Red Cup], you can walk over to Sully’s Pizza where they serve gluten free and vegetarian pizza,” Anne shares. Named after former mayor Brian Sullivan, Sully’s is a Mukilteo staple.

Another pizzeria on Anne’s list is Brooklyn Bros. “Friday nights when we don’t feel like driving, it’s fun to walk down to get the best pizza in the area, Brooklyn Bros,” she notes. High quality ingredients, a perfectly-cooked crust, and intense flavors make these pies the best west of the Hudson.

The Mukilteo Lodge

Calling all sports fans! The Mukilteo Lodge is a great place to “get a drink or watch a game,” according to Anne. With extensive draft beers, hearty dishes, and game happy hours, you can cheer your team onto victory in true American style.

“[There are] so many great places to eat in Mukilteo,” Anne notes. But her “…new favorite is Café Soleil, [a] euro-Japanese kitchen and it is family owned. The food is great and the service is superb! I love to hang out with the chef and get [a] good recommendation for the day.” Her tip? “Have you ever had a green tea crème brulee for dessert? I had and it was delicious!”

“For a special celebration, I recommend John’s Grill in Old Town,” Anne shares. “Everything is delicious.” From steak to seafood, all dishes are flavorful and showcase the head chef’s culinary expertise. Anne’s top dish? “My favorite is the steak and grilled prawns.”

“Who wouldn’t want to be from the MUK! The sticker says it all. Mukilteo is a quaint community that not many people know about and even fewer who know how to pronounce the name. I happen to think one of the best beaches in Snohomish county is right in the MUK. Our beach features built in fire pits, a fantastic beach side playground, a substantial shelter perfect for parties all year round, boat launch, lighthouse, plus ice cream and fish & chips within walking distance to the beach.” – Jenny E

“Love love love Big Gulch trail. One minute you’re in the middle of civilization and the next you’re far far away in a place that could be hundreds of miles away. Just a small sign marks the trail head across from the fire department. I’ve spent many hours breathing, thinking, singing on that trail!!” –Janet B

There is also the garden club, historical society, orchestra and the landmark graveyard. Headstones tell the story of our founder’s lives and untimely deaths including the young from influenza and those that built and called Mukilteo “good camping spot” their permanent home.

Commuting from Mukilteo

Train, ferry, plane, bus, bike, what did I miss… oh, yes cars too. Located at the tip of I-5 & I-405 and also easily accessible to 99, commuters have a variety of routes to choose from to get just about anywhere. Mukilteo offers a myriad of options for commuting, including the ferry that runs between Mukilteo and Clinton on Whidbey Island. You can view the ferry schedule here!

McMenamins Anderson School is a great spot! There are lots of options, but a favorite place is to grab a drink and sit outside near the fire pits, or they have outdoor tables that are under cover with heaters for the cold/wet days. Whether you’re just looking for dinner and a movie or searching for an overnight getaway, McMenamins’ Anderson School in Bothell has your dining and entertainment needs covered! This one-stop-shop is located in a converted school, and hotel rooms are located in converted classrooms.

Located right next door to Woodinville, Bothell’s close proximity to this wine capital make it a popular destination for wine lovers. Woodinville is home to a whopping 108 wineries and tasting rooms, 8 microbreweries, distilleries & cideries, and 26 different dining spots! With so many wineries to choose from, it can be a bit daunting, but we recommend checking out Woodinville Wine Country’s website for a guide to Woodinville’s different districts as well as a list of wineries and a special passport that can get you discounts. For those hoping to stay the weekend, there’s also a guide on hotels and bed & breakfasts available for your convenience.

When the sun comes out, biking from downtown on the Sammamish River Trail and finding a glass of wine is a great way to enjoy at the plethora of wineries. Listening to music at the popular Chateau Ste Michelle, is a great way to spend a summer evening. The winery is home to some delicious wines in addition to a summer concert series that attracts big names like Josh Groban and John Legend.

Whether you’re looking for some family-friendly entertainment or heading out with a group of adults for a night on the town, Country Village offers a whimsical setting to explore and enjoy! Brewery Tour

Beer is a big deal in the Pacific Northwest, and Bothell’s long list of breweries sets the perfect scene for a weekend brewery tour!

Watts Brewing Company: This nano brewery names their accessible beers after bees, and each release is only brewed once.
Decibel Brewing Co: Kids, pets, and outside food are welcome at this establishment!
The Hop and Hound: Enjoy at least a dozen fresh beers on tap, plus Stumptown Cold Brew Coffee on NITRO, and different food trucks every Friday.
Foggy Noggin Brewing: As one of the world’s smallest production breweries, Foggy Noggin offers fresh beers in their Bothell tasting room (bring a growler!).
Nine Yards Brewing: This all ages spot is located right off of the Burke Gilman trail, making it a great option when you need to stop and cool down.

Try stopping at 192 Brewing Co. or Cairn Brewing, and combining it with a day of riding your bike along the Burke Gilman or along Lake Washington. Break for a picnic along the way!
